Description

A beautiful vintage Mottahedeh earthenware hand painted leaf-form dish, in the “Tobacco Leaf” pattern. Lovely soft blue base decorated with chinoiserie style leaves, flowers, and bird in multicolored paint and 22K gold. A reproduction of an original in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Measures approx. 1.5″h x 9.75″l x 7.25″w. Good vintage condition, no chips or cracks observed and minimal (if any) surface wear, perhaps a little minor decoration loss/fading – see photos. Does not appear to be marked, just a single small, unidentified impression on the verso. Identified as Mottahedeh through visual comparison to other known Mottahedeh pieces. A gorgeous dish, perfect for serving nuts or candies!
